Clean and Simple

I am off bright and early to my sons wrestling meet this morning so I wanted to get this post up before we head out!  Yesterday I decided to make some simple birthday cards while my two little boys were napping and this is the first one I came up with

I used a white standard size card base and cut down a black stampin up scrap I had and adhered that down to my card base.  I then stamped 5 candles in 5 different colors on a piece of white card stock and then stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment in black, tied a piece of ribbon around the card and tied it in a knot and popped the card stock up on some dimensionals and i think it turned out very cute!  I made a few of the same card but mixed it up a little by running the black card stock through my vagabond with an embossing folder and changed up my ink color for my candles!

For my next card I used another standard size white card base.  I cut out a flower shape using a piece of scrap copy paper and used it as a mask on my card.  I took three different shades of purple distress ink and blended the colors over my flower mask.  I then took a doily stamp and stamped it over my mask in black ink and I think it turned out really cute!  I did not have any matching ribbon so I took a piece of left over white seam binding, some dusty concord distress ink and a mini mister and customized the ribbon to the shade I wanted!  I love the way it turned out!! I then dried it with my hear tool and tied it onto my card and then stamped my happy birthday sentiment.  At this point I thought my card was still missing something so I trimmed a small piece of the card off (about a half inch) and adhered a white piece of card stock that i colored with dusty concord to match the flower onto the inside of the card.  I think it gives it just a little more pop of color!  Then I added some white dash marks with my gel pen.  I hope you all enjoy my card share and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

It has been awhile...

So I have been on this card making kick and have not done any layouts in a long time!  So today while baby eli was napping I decided to put together a LO using one of my favorite pictures of myself and my son gavin.  This picture was taken on my birthday and reminds me of just how precious life is!  If you can see in the picture gavins hair is long on top and shaved on the sides.  Months before this picture was taken gavin had fallen out of his brothers bedroom window and i took him to the e.r.  They decided to give him a scan to make sure there was no injury from the fall since we did not know if he had lost consciousness.  Good news was he had no injury from the fall but they discovered a large cyst that was pushing his brain to one side! A miracle this lil man of ours was walking and talking normal and never had any seizures!  We were transported to a bigger hospital where we were admitted and he was prepped for surgery the following day.  Scariest thing we ever had to go through and our lil gavin was so brave!  He is a tough little man and healthy as can be!!! We are blessed and thankful everyday!  So I wanted to create a LO with this picture that I love so much and I plan to hang it in my bedroom.  I started with a white 12x12 and put some color on using acrylic pants and I made some mist with a Tim Holtz picked raspberry reinker, water, and a mini mister and gave the LO a few squirts in corners.  The papers I used are from websters pages and one is from amuse studios.  I took some embellishments out of my stash of goodies and they is a mixture of websters pages, studio calico, basicgrey and prima.  I hope you all enjoy my LO!

So onto my card I created today.....I am once again participating in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge HERE this week and using this same card for the MemoryWorks February Studio Challenge.  The challenge for this week at SSS is to USE AN ARROW and the challenge for the MW Studio is to focus on a trend, technique or product you love in a layout, card or project.

I have seen a lot of arrows being used in a lot of different lines so that is the trend I picked for the MW challenge.  Also I have seen a lot of neon colors!  Not only in crafting but in fashion as well so I decided to use some neon ink from Hero Arts!  I used an arrow stamp that came in my August 2012 SSS card kit and inked it up with some Hero Arts Neon Pink ink and created this background on a piece of white cardstock.  I then adhered that to a black standard size card base and used Papertry Ink stamp set Framed Out #5 for my sentiment and cut it out with the matching die.  I also used a Tim Holtz spinner and attached it to the tag and added some glittered fancy floss from We R Memory Keepers!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my post for today!

Happy Thursday!

I have two card to share with you today!!  They are both quick and simple cards.  For the first card I used papers from the July 2012 Simon Says Stamp card kit,  the Mad About You stamp set from Close to My Heart, the postage stamp punch from Stampin Up and the small heart is from the stamp set that came in my SSS card kit.

For my next card I also used papers from the July 2012 SSS card kit!  The paper pad that was included in the kit is from BasicGrey and is called Paper Cottage.  I cut strips of the different papers and adhered them to a piece of card stock and then adhered that to a standard size card base with some dimensionals.  I tied a bow with some jute and stamped a sentiment from the stamp set Absolutely Delightful that was included in the SSS card kit to a white banner and adhered to the card!  Enjoy and have a Happy Thursday!

The Deconstructed Sketch No. 87

Hello!  I am here today with a card sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch!  I have never done anything like this before so I am excited to share this with you all!  I think this sketch is just fabulous and can be used for so many different occasions!  Here is what I came up with!

As you can see I used the same washi tape I used in my previous card post!  I used washi tapes from amuse studio, simon says stamp card kit, and k&company.  The twine is from amuse studio and the sentiment is from Close to My heart and is called Who's Your Valentine!  Enjoy and check out http://deconstructingjen.com/ !!
